People spend so much money on their weddings. Rather than wasting away your money, why not simply give that money to the couple to help them start their new life ahead? Why not allow the couple to give that money in sadaqah, therefore adding more blessings to their wedding and gaining reward from Allaah for a good deed? The more unnecessarily excessive your wedding is, the less barakah (blessing) you maintain. How can a person expect Rahmah from Allaah on such an important day, while doing things which are Displeasing to Allaah? Think about it. Keep it simple and do it the Islamic way, as that is more acceptable to Allaah.
