The third Convocation of Virtual University of Pakistan was held on Saturday, December 01, 2012 at Pearl-Continental Hotel, Rawalpindi. Degrees were conferred upon 1056 graduates who acquired their Bachelors and Masters from the University. Merit certificates were also awarded to outstanding graduates. In his welcome address, the Rector of the University, Mr. Tajdar Alam, highlighted the achievements of the Virtual University, its principal/lead role in delivering technology based education and contribution in the provision of quality education even to the remotest areas of the country. He also emphasized the need to work selflessly for the progress and betterment of the country and making the nation, an educated nation. He also mentioned VU's future ventures and most importantly the highly anticipated VU's Institute of Media Arts (IMA) for aspiring media professionals of the country. The chief guest, Dr. Naveed A. Malik, the founding Rector VU, also congratulated the successful graduates and high achievers. The convocation was attended by dignitaries, personalities from academia and parents of the graduates.
