Why do we run away from its reality?
Is it because we're far away from spirituality?

Layers of darkness topping one above another,
To those inside the graves, does it smother?
I know that my end is very near,
But what is it that I fear?
Is it an end to my struggling life?
Or is it a beginning to an eternal strife?
While the people mourn in flocks,
I wonder how it feels lying inside a box.
I can't move a muscle, I feel so numb and cold,
I fear it's the end, there's nothing I can withhold.
My heart trembles; can I not see the sunrise tomorrow?
What if the journey is full of darkness, full of sorrow?
Will I be raised with honor or will I be blind?
I hope I'm forgiven for the mistakes that I leave behind.
My soul longs to meet Lord, the Almighty,
O Allah, wash away the sins inside of me.
Drag me not with the sinners in shame,
For I cannot bear the heat of your flame.
May Allah forgive us our shortcomings, Ameen.
