English Translation of Al-Quran

[21].Al-Anbiya [The Prophets]

Ayat 71. And We rescued him and Lout (Lot) to the land which We have blessed for the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns).

Ayat 72. And We bestowed upon him Ishaque (Isaac), and (a grandson) Yaqub (Jacob). Each one We made righteous.

Ayat 73. And We made them leaders, guiding (mankind) by Our Command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds, performing Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and the giving of Zakat and of Us (Alone) they were worshippers.

[Tafseer] But We delivered him and (his nephew) Lut PBUH (and directed them) to the land which We have blessed for the nations. The land of Aram or Syria , which in its widest connotation includes Canaan or Palestine , is a well-watered fertile land, with a Mediterranean sea-coast, on which the famous commercial cities of Tyre and Sidon were situated. Its population is very mixed, as it has been a bone of contention between all the great kingdoms and empires of Western Asia and Egypt , and European interest in it dates from the most ancient times.  And We bestowed on him Isaac and, as an additional gift, (a grandson), Jacob, and We made righteous men of every one (of them). Nafilah has many meanings: (1) booty; (2) extra work or prayer; (3) extra or additional gift; (4) grandson. The two last implications are implied here. Not only was Abraham PBUH given a son in his old age; he was given not only Isaac (PBUH), but several sons, the chief being Ismail PBUH and Isaac PBUH, who both joined in burying him ; and he also saw grandsons. Ismail PBUH is specially mentioned later apart from Isaac's line, on account of his special importance for Islam. And We made them leaders, guiding (men) by Our Command, and We sent them inspiration to do good deeds, to establish regular prayers, and to practice regular charity; and they constantly served Us (and Us only). The spiritual lesson from this passage may be recapitulated. The righteous man makes no compromise with evil. If the votaries of evil laugh at him he pays them in their own coin, but he stands firmly by his principles. His firmness causes some confusion among the followers of evil, and he openly declares the faith that is in him. They try, openly and secretly, to injure or kill him, but Allah protects him, while evil perished from its own excesses.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Buraidah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "That which differentiates us from the disbelievers and hypocrites is our performance of Salat. He who abandons it, becomes a disbeliever.''

[At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2621]

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Anbiya Ayat 73."We inspired in them the doing of good deeds, performing Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat)," This Hadith makes the importance of Salat in Islam abundantly clear. The opinion of the Companions of the Prophet  [SAWW](PBUH) was based on the information contained in the Ahadith which have been mentioned above. They did not take the Ahadith which interpreted the leaving of Salat as Kufr mere scolding or reproof. They considered slackness and negligence in Salat as Kufr and apostasy and regarded Salat a symbol of Islam..
